THE CANNONBALL LIVES?
Strange things were a foot at the basketball game last Wednesday. There was something like five different groups in the house that night. Silver Sands Middle School, Pathways Elementary, the Dancing Greenwaves from Father Lopez, the Lady Bucs dance team from Mainland High School, and a few Embry-Riddle friends from Palm Bay Golf Course here in Daytona.
The Up 'Til Dawn Date Auction was held immediately after the game, and raised over $1,800 with people bidding on Embry-Riddle students to raise money for the St. Jude's Research Foundation. There were just over 20 participants in the auction, including the Human Cannonball.
That's right. The Human Cannonball lives. We don't know what exactly brought him back, or how he escaped a fire-y grave a few months back, or why he chose this moment as his return to the world of the living, but he was there and was auctioned off for an overwhelming $245.
Word spread quickly after the release of the above video. What will this man do next? All you can do is show up and see. This Wednesday is the final home game for the Eagles' basketball team. It is Camo Night and the cheerleaders will be passing out yellow ribbons for the crowd to wear in support of the United States troops. There is a limited number of blue Camo Nation t-shirts (100) that will be passed out, as well.
Should be an unbelievable event. We are trying to set a record for best attendance - both student and overall. We need to have over 950 students and right around 2,000 total spectators to do it. So invite you friends, your aunt, your second cousin. Get them to the game, and in the words of Coach Ridder "let's make a memory together."
Speaking of - if ERAU wins it's final two games, we will be the host of the Sun Conference tournament. Win 5. That's all we have to do to get Ridder bald.

THE MUSTACHES ARE COMING

February 10th the mustaches will be back. I've already started to grow mine. Baseball has their home opening on the 10th of this month, and in true Jason Giambi, Rollie Fingers, Dennis Eckersley, and Mike Schmidt fashion we are going to be handing out mustaches to those that come out to the game.
The fun doesn't stop there. Oh no. The basketball team plays host to Edward Waters university the next day Feb. 11th. Since NASCAR will have rolled into town at that point, we want everyone to jump the bandwagon. Go incognito, infiltrate the 500,000 people that will come to the Dirty. Whether it be to keep a low profile (you don't want to be one of the few who don't have the 'stache), or to stand out in the crowd with a mustache the likes of which the world has never seen, just make sure there's hair up there.
COACHES DO THE WIPEOUT
It was Coaches Vs. Cancer night, and while the basketball coaches were busy doing there thing to make it a great night, the rest of the ERAU coaches and support staff jumped in to the Ocean Deck media time out, and made waves. Check out the video.
SOPRANO'S VIDEO
It's a little after the fact, but here is the original version of the second Soprano's video. Starring Paul Marino and Logan Melchionna, it's a vivid re-imagining of the Northwood game. Those two cats are like DeNiro and Pacino - only younger.
Northwood Round 2 is Staturday February 21st. Hit any Flock administrator up about how to get down there.

COACHES VS. CANCER

Friday Night's game against St. Thomas fit perfectly into the college basketball schedule with the annual Coaches Vs. Cancer week. Both school's coaches wore their usual suits and paired them with sneakers to raise awareness for cancer prevention programs. Embry- Riddle's Relay for Life team was at the ICI prior to the game getting their purple up everywhere around the gym.
All of the gate collected for the game went to the Relay for Life team, as did sales of our remaining pink Chuck Norris t-shirts, and the money collected from the Car Bash held before the Northwood game.
All told, there was over $500 we were able to give to the American Cancer Society. At half-time we invited everyone who dressed as the coaches do onto the court for a picture.

It was a great night, thank you to all who helped make it happen. Remember - Relay for Life v.ERAU is coming March 27-28. Help make a difference.
CAR BASH

Prior to the Northwood game, Daytona Mitsubishi gave the Flock the hook up on an old beat up junker. Unfortunately, Richard Nesbitt the owner of the best selling Mitsubishi dealership wasn't around for the game to see the damage being done to his once "prized" possession. So Richard, thanks, and this blogs for you.
The new face lift o n the car fit the game perfectly. Can't go wrong with a car bash on Soprano's Night - even Northwood coach Rollie Massimino came out to see the the ruckus was about. Coach Ridder took the sledge hammer and left an impression.
All the money collected for the hits went to the Embry-Riddle Relay for Life team.
PICS!
ROLLERCOASTER WEEK

Last week didn't disappoint. The Sun Conference is tighter than it has been in recent memory. There's a three team pile up just one game out of first place. The Eagles are one of those teams.
After taking down #4 ranked Northwood at home on Wednesday night in one of the best games played at the ICI Center, the Eagles fell in another close game to St. Thomas on Friday night.
The new polls come out today, and there's bound to be some shake ups. We'll see how it plays out, but for now make sure to continuing bringing your bald caps to the games. We're only one game out of first. One game out from hosting the conference tournament.
Here's some pics from the great effort at Soprano's Night.
